I’m trying to publish my custom watch face but get a 404 when I try to open the page it tells me it was published to and it doesn’t show up on the mobile app either.
I removed all unsupported tags from the watch face so I’m not sure what the problem is.
I get a Smart Switch notification on my phone saying it’s syncing the phone and watch if I hit the manual sync button on the watch design page but nothing happens on the actual watch.
Thanks for reporting this — a few quick questions so I can narrow it down:
-
Were you using WatchMaker Studio or the legacy mobile editor when publishing?
-
What is the exact URL it gave you after publishing that shows the 404?
-
Did you press Publish, or just Save?
-
Also, does the watch face show as Published in your designs list, or still Draft?
Once I have that info I can track down exactly what’s happening.
I was using WatchMaker Studio.
This is the URL I get: Watch Face Not Found | WatchMaker
I’ve tried changing the name it publishes it as but always get the same URL.
The design shows up as Published.
Unfortunately, we aren’t able to publish watch faces based on Fallout due to IP and licensing restrictions.
I appreciate you taking the time to test publishing and report this, and I’m sorry for the confusion caused by the watch showing as published. If you’d like, you can publish the same design with original (non-Fallout) assets and it should work normally.
I don’t want to publish it though.
I just want to send it to my watch for my own use like I did before. My current watch face is broken and I just want to fix it by removing the non-supported features.
Why can’t I send it to my watch without publishing? I don’t see an option.
You don’t need to publish the watch face to send it to your watch.
From WatchMaker Studio on desktop, use the Preview on Device function — it’s the big round send button in the top-right corner of the editor. That will send the watch face directly to your phone and watch without publishing it publicly.
A couple of things to check if it doesn’t appear:
-
Make sure you have the latest version of WatchMaker installed on your Android phone
-
Make sure you are logged into the same WatchMaker account on your Android phone as you are using in WatchMaker Studio
-
Keep the WatchMaker app open on your phone while sending
Once everything is connected, the watch face should automatically appear on your phone and sync to your watch.
I’ve done what you said but it still doesn’t get sent to my phone and nothing happens on my watch.
I have the latest version on both my phone and my watch.
I am logged in to the same account on both Studio and the Android app.
I have the Android app open.
I click the Preview on Device button to send the watch face and get “Preview sent successfully!” but nothing happens.
Are you definitely on latest version of android app
Make sure your phone is unlocked and paired to watch when you send from watchmaker studio
I’m on the Beta and just checked the Play Store.
It said I had an update to install that wasn’t there last night, so I updated it but I still have the same problem.
The app is open and my phone is unlocked and paired to the watch but nothing happens.
Should I switch the the regular version?
yes i think thats the problem - i might not have put that feature in beta yet but its in the main app
i’ll make sure it gets added in next beta version, but for now please switch to regular app
That was it.
It finally works.
Thank you!
